About the work
You are surrounded by live musicians, sound, and imagery. It may feel as if you are inside the piece. Memory becomes a transcendent experience.
Like an audio time capsule, composer Domantas Pūras’ oratorio reveals the experiences of forced deportation to Siberia and breaking points in 20th-century Lithuanian history. The documentary narrative of his grandfather — a political prisoner and forced deportee — becomes the axis of a multi-layered musical experience. His voice testifies to the significance of the partisan resistance, NKVD torture, and personal torment while fighting for freedom and truth.
A profound emotional journey through the soundscape and the dramatic structure of the music. The work is presented in two formats: a 360° installation, in which the audience is inside the work, and a concert for halls and theatres.
Growing up, I always felt this collective trauma. The forced deportations and our entire history are deep-rooted in me — and, I believe, in most Lithuanians.

The chapel-columbarium in the Memorial Complex of Tuskulėnai Peace Park, Vilnius
I was deeply moved by everything I heard and saw in Tuskulėnai on June 12. It was terribly difficult, almost unbearable, but it cannot be otherwise – after all, it was the tragic life of a human being, experienced alongside for one hour.
— a viewer review by Andrey
And these are just images, fragments of sensations, the indescribable experiences of such events, and the ever-inspiring will to survive, recover, and create life. A very timely work that transforms the experiences of that era into new forms of artistic expression.
